Springtime at In The Grove: A Beautiful Season for Weddings

There’s something special about spring at In The Grove. The days begin to warm, fresh growth fills the gardens, and the afternoon light invites you to linger a little longer beneath the trees.

It’s one of our favourite seasons for weddings, and a walk through the grounds soon reveals why. From the fragrance of the surrounding macadamia orchards to the soft light falling across the lawns, spring brings so much to enjoy at our Bundaberg wedding venue.

A garden full of fresh beginnings

As the gardens stir after their winter rest, new leaves bring vibrant shades of green to the grounds. The camphor laurels shed last year’s leaves, scattering amber tones beneath their spreading branches. There’s a hint of an English country garden in autumn, alongside all the freshness of a Queensland spring.

Our hydrangeas are looking particularly lovely. Their flowers are still a couple of months away, but their lush green foliage is already a feature in its own right. Framed by white picket fencing and a garden arbour, the hydrangea beds bring cottage-garden charm to the grounds and a beautiful backdrop for photographs.

The fragrance of spring

Spring brings its own beautiful fragrance, too. The surrounding macadamia orchards are now in flower, scenting the air as they prepare for this season’s nut growth.

It’s a part of the experience that photographs can’t capture. As you wander through the gardens, the scent of the blossoms adds another lovely reminder of the season, a small detail that makes spending time here feel special.

Quiet corners beneath the trees

One of the joys of In The Grove is discovering the different spaces within the gardens.

Beneath the sweeping branches of mature trees, our white Federation Rotunda offers a quiet place to pause. Dappled sunlight falls across the gravel, fallen leaves gather along the edges, and layers of greenery surround you.

It’s a lovely spot for a photograph or a moment together during your wedding day, with the gardens providing a natural frame.

That beautiful golden light

As the afternoon sun lowers, the gardens take on a different character. Light filters between the tall palms, catches the edges of the foliage and casts long shadows across the grass.

It’s one of our favourite moments of the day.

While you step away for photographs, your guests can enjoy the surrounding and each other company, on the the patio area admiring the gardens with cocktails and canapés before heading into our permanently erected, 15m x 10m hip sided marquee for the evenings reception.

The seating beneath the palms, green lawns and shaded garden spaces make it easy to imagine an afternoon of conversation and celebration. Your guests can relax and soak up the atmosphere until you return to join them.

Behind the scenes, spring is a busy season of care. We feed and fertilise the lawns and garden beds, while the lazy ticking of the sprinklers is a familiar sound as we keep everything green and flourishing. That care is part of what makes the grounds such a pleasure to share.
